Description
Daniel Austen Sommer (1878-1952) was the son of Daniel Sommer, who exerted a strong influence among brethren during the late 19th century and for much of the first half of the 20th century. The elder Sommer’s influence was felt through his work as a preacher, writer, and editor of the Apostolic Review (formerly the Octographic Review). D. A. Sommer worked with his father for a time before eventually breaking off and starting his own rival paper, the Macedonian Call.
Originally published in 1910, Meditations in Bible Lands was the product of D. A. Sommer’s trip to the “Old World” to see the places where the Bible record unfolded. After delivering lectures on his travels, he was encouraged by others to put his talks into book form. This resulting volume contains his reflections as he connected the Scriptures to the scenes he experienced on his six-month trip.
