Description
We learn that we have a choice to serve God or not. It is our choice, and God is not going to force anyone to do anything they do not want to do. What God has done is to lay it all out before us, and now He is giving us the option of the choice we will make. To help us make a right choice, God tells us the benefit of serving Him, and God also tells us the consequences of not serving Him.
Remember that when temptation comes, God provides the way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). The point is that we do not have to sin. The reality is that if we do sin, it is because we wanted to. This falls into our theme of choices. We choose for ourselves what we are going to do. There may be times when we are influenced in the wrong direction; but still, it is our choice to determine if we will do what is right or what is wrong.
We must take caution that we do not do things to please ourselves. While God does allow us all sorts of pleasure and happiness, there are rules, laws, and restrictions on how to do those things. We also must decide on whether we are going to please men or God. It is our choice.
