Description
John T. Lewis (1876-1967) graduated from Nashville Bible School in 1906. Following that, he spent sixty years in Birmingham, Alabama where he preached the gospel and helped establish churches throughout that area.
In Voice of the Pioneers, Lewis addressed the two issues that caused the greatest controversy among those in the Restoration Movement – instrumental music and the missionary society. While he does present Biblical arguments against such innovations, the primary focus of the book is on what was taught by the pioneers of the nineteenth century. This makes it a valuable resource for us to learn about the history of the Restoration Movement.
