Description

The Cane Ridge Meeting House in Bourbon County, Kentucky, was the site of a revival in August 1801. This momentous event helped launch a movement – often called the “Restoration Movement.” Barton W. Stone preached at the Cane Ridge church and played a leading role in the revival there.

This book tells the story of the Cane Ridge church, including its founding, building, and graveyard. It recounts several ministers who served the church, namely Barton W. Stone, John Allen Gano, and others. The book also contains a brief autobiography of Stone and a sketch of David Purviance, one of the signers of the Last Will and Testament of the Springfield Presbytery, who labored with Stone for a time in Cane Ridge.

This special 225th anniversary edition contains additional material, including a sketch of the revival written by one who witnessed it as a child and Barton W. Stone’s History of the Christian Church in the West.
