Description
Benjamin Franklin (1812-1878) was an influential leader among conservative brethren in the Restoration Movement. Much of his influence came through his work as editor of the American Christian Review – a paper he started in 1856 and continued as the editor until his death.
The first volume of The Gospel Preacher contains twenty sermons by Franklin. In them, he addressed such topics as Bible authority, salvation, unity, predestination, the second coming of Christ, and more. First published in 1869, the material in this collection is still needed today. Franklin’s method of expounding the Scriptures will benefit honest readers of our generation just as it did during his day.
The second volume contains twenty-one sermons by Franklin. In them, he addressed such topics as the kingdom, baptism, prayer, matters of agreement and disagreement, and more. Franklin wrote this volume about eight years after the first volume in response to an overwhelming demand for a second collection of his sermons. Those who read and consider these lessons from Franklin today will profit from them as the original readers did.
