Description
All four gospels provide a record of the life, teachings, miracles, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, the gospel of John stands out as unique compared with the “synoptic” gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke). It was written later than the others and follows its own narrative, providing a new perspective on Jesus and His teachings.
We might characterize John’s gospel as “The Gospel of Belief.” The apostle states his purpose for writing toward the end of the book: “Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:30-31). Reading and studying this gospel can establish and strengthen one’s faith in Christ.
Jefferson David Tant has dedicated his life to spreading the gospel of Christ. This volume contains his notes on the Gospel of John, providing insights and wisdom to help us understand and apply what we find in the text.
