Description
In May 1955, A. C. Grider (1912-1990) met W. E. Sherrill, a seasoned Baptist preacher, in debate. Over the course of four nights, the two men discussed the topics of baptism and apostasy. This debate addressed two propositions:
The scriptures teach that salvation is by grace through faith, independent of baptism.
W. E. Sherrill, affirming.
A. C. Grider, denying.
The scriptures teach that a child of God, saved by the blood of Christ, may so far apostatize as to be finally lost in hell.
A. C. Grider, affirming.
W. E. Sherrill, denying.
All those who are seeking a better understanding of what the Bible teaches on these topics will benefit from a careful reading of this debate and an honest examination of both disputants’ arguments in light of the Scriptures.
The charts used in the debate were recreated for this edition to be simpler and easier to read.
